You Can Go Back
July 12, 2008
I spent the most amazing weekend with 100 high school friends celebrating our director's retirement after 39 years. I can't express fully how it felt to walk into the school's auditorium after 28 years. The smell, look, and feel of the room was exactly the same. What seemed liked strangers came up to me and greeted me by name. At first I thought, how do they know me? Then when I looked closer I could see these were my classmates from so long ago! Suddenly 28 years seemed like yesterday and I felt like a teenager all over again. We had no idea how deep our bond ran until 28 years later.
As a teen, the drama department was an escape and a joy for me as I struggled with many challenges. It was our director and those kids that taught me determination, courage, teamwork, professionalism and how to have fun. We are all just grown kids and we need to laugh and have fun too. This weekend filled a void in my soul that I did not know I was missing until I went home again! You can go back and celebrate those who left an imprint on your life so many years ago!
