This is from Rosemarie Miller!!

Hey ladies. Something I want to share with you.

I know some of you have read The Secret. Well, I've been really amazed by a little something related to that book and my last race.

You see, I TOLD myself about a week prior to the race "I am going to get third place in my age group." I never told anyone else. I said it to myself several times a day. I said it, and I forced myself to believe it. Sometimes, in order to do that, I had to repeat it over and over, either out loud or in my head.

Doubts creeped in. I even reverted to the 'Ah well, I am just going to approach this race with the objejctive of having FUN" a few times (especially when I learned about that intended 'beach start' and the 100 or so women in my wave.) But my goal, my belief in what I could do, was always underneath it all.

And I did it.

Now THAT, to me, is amazing. I never did finish the whole book, and I don't even know if I really have to but I do know this: I will employ this strategy with EVERYTHING I do from here on out.

And now on to lighter fare...

I had a TOTALLY AWESOME swim today!!!! I am still flying high!!! So you know I have been working on re-training my stroke. Well, just when that was coming along well and I was feeling confident and strong, ol' coach Bill throws me another monkey wrench: my hips are sinking. I'm not high enough on the water. Now, I need to focus on pushing my chest DOWN, actually swimming while pushing my upper body DOWN. This throws my whole stroke into disarray, once again. I've been working on this for two practices and today's session was no different. Except, now I get another to-do item: I'm not kicking correctly. I'm kicking more from the knee than from the hip. All the power in your kick is basically from your upper leg - glutes, quads and hamstrings. I'm not putting those muscles to use because I'm bending at the knee too much.

So today, I'm trying to swim DOWN and kick my entire leg. AND, we're doing sprints. My BRAIN was frying as I tried to get all the parts working correctly. And then, I GOT IT. IT clicked. I was on a 50 sprint and I. WAS. FLYING. ACROSS. THE. WATER. I felt it!! I could FEEL I was faster!! It was the coolest thing!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only did I have the personal satisfaction of knowing that I finally got it to work, but our coach stopped me at the end and said "YOU did a GREAT job today."

WAHOOOOOO!!!!!!! His compliments are rare and I really am in awe. Moments like that are what really get my motivation to skyrocket. If I didn't have to race to pick up Liam from school, I would have jumped right back in the pool then and there and done another 3000 meters.

So, moral of the story is BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and NEVER MAKE SUBSTITUTES FOR HARD WORK!!!

Hi everyone!!

I am enjoying Chalean Extreme again--- mixing it up with other stuff---but, I forgot how much I liked it!

I hope you all can get shakeology!! I have more canadian customers----so, I wonder what is taking so long the the shakeology. I will keep my ears open for you. I just love it and so many people I am sharing it with are having amazing benefits and results---- i get sooo excited about that!

Suz
The Fund Raiser went well for the little amount of people that showed up. The weather was nothing to write home about for sure and I was glad I wasn't having this outdoors because of the torrential rains and thunderstorms. We still raised close to $500 with more money coming in because parties were booked from PartyLite, Arbornne and Passion Party that will also donate 20% of the sales towards MS.

I am keeping my fingers crossed about the Shakeology. I know it seems like everyone who uses it feels better and has lost weight. A question. Do you still have to take a multiple vitamin when you take Shakeology everyday?

I did Push 3 today to make up for missing Friday. I will do a stretch workout tomorrow and attempt to do Push 1,2,3, on Wed. Thurs. and Friday for my week 3 of Push. I really do like this phase. I was able to use 18#s for most of my Push 3 workout today and that was worth smiling about! My wrist withstood.

Alright, here you go. Another one. A rather lengthy report of the race... I fully admit I get a little carried away with these.

Believing and Fighting at the DiamondGirl Sprint Triathlon, June 13th 2010

Back to the scene of my first foray into the sport of triathlon, and what an awesome return it was!! :-)

Began the day at 4:30, on very little sleep (I can NEVER sleep before a race, who can?!? What do you do?) and picked up my friend Anne who was racing with me. Luckily Anne knew in advance about a major interstate closing so we had a back route worked out to the race venue. Thinking back to a year ago, when I drove alone in silence in the dark, white knuckled and probably white faced too, I had to laugh and was thrilled about how different I felt this year. Excited and nervous for sure, but certainly no terror! And it was great to have a friend joining me on race day. We had a great ride and arrived in plenty of time.

I was SUPER EXCITED with my prime spot in transition – right at the swim in/bike out. SUPER cool!!! I could have jumped up and down with excitement. My new bright yellow handle bar tape made it easy to spot my bike. After setting up transition, Anne and I walked down to the lake, checked out the buoy placement, took a look at the swim out route into transition, which was quite a bit of distance running up hill through grass, mud and roots before ever encountering a timing mat (nice addition to the swim split time…) and also took a look at the bike out route and the run out route. Check, check, and check.

I kept transition as super simple as I could: no bike gloves, no hat, no shirt. I wore just my race shorts and bra top, which was fine because it was a humid day already, even at 6 am. I did keep the socks in the transition line up, but this time I rolled them up to get them on faster (like you would do when dressing a child). I kept the third strap on my bike shoes in place and loosened only the first two. Only thing I needed for the run was my sneakers and the race belt, which I planned to deal with on the run out. Helmet with sunglasses was perched on the handlebars. So everything was looking super simple and clean. I did a quick little mental run-through of each transition and that was it.

Before we knew it, transition was closing, I was spraying my legs with cooking spray (too funny – first time I tried this!! All about wetsuit removal!!) and wiggling into my wetsuit. After the national anthem, we headed down to the lake and watched as the first wave readied for the start. I had my heart rate monitor on and it was hilarious watching my heart rate continue to head up while we stood there. This is a really interesting thing to do!! I was at 70-something, then low 80’s, 86, 90, 98…! Anne shook some sense in me and told me to calm down, and with a few deep breaths I was back down to 80-ish. But it wasn’t fear – just excitement. Pure adrenaline. This was only to be matched later while waiting for race results. ;-)

Wave 1 headed off and we headed into the water. I wished Anne a good race and headed out into the right front to get a good spot for the swim. I was not playing it safe this race. Time to see what I am made of. No fear. Give it all you have. After a few minutes of waiting, the countdown started and we were off.

I gave it a huge sprint. Heaving-for-air sprinting. There was only one person in front of me so I stayed on her heels. After the initial sprint, I focused on getting my breathing under control while maintaining a good stroke and a race pace. I was feeling great. Pushing it harder than I ever have. I was catching women in the first wave before I made the first turn which I tried to execute without slamming into any of them. Feeling good, I was sighting well. The athlete in front of me (from my wave) started to veer wildly off course. Every time I sighted I couldn’t believe how far off she was going! I started thinking she was going to get DQ’d she was so far inside the buoy line but I got my focus off of her and back onto what I was doing. I swam until my hands hit bottom, which meant I was swimming through wave 1 women who were already up and walking. I stood, sprinted out of the water, weaving in between red caps, and got stalled on the run up the hill due to a red cap log jam. Thankfully a race official reminded everyone to stay to the right and I was able to get through. At this point, I thought I was first out of the water for my wave, so I was feeling really excited but trying not to let myself get excited. I was at my bike immediately upon entering transition (LOVED that!!), wetsuit was already down around my hips and it literally peeled right off my legs and feet from the cooking spray. LOVED that too!! Socks on, shoes on, sunglasses on, helmet on, bike off the rack and I sprinted to the bike out. Got on at the mount line and took off. Here is where my ‘on your left!’ chant began…

There are rules of course, and then there are rules that are not enforced. I encountered SO many instances of blocking I can’t count them all. Except to say that I grew really tired of yelling ‘on your left!’ I started veering off the shoulder into the roadway just to pass. Thankfully the roads were closed. But I wasn’t too ruffled by that. I was feeling good, excited about my swim, and feeling like I had a shot at SOMETHING! I didn’t let myself focus on that however and just stayed keyed into my pedaling and tried to continue to push as hard as I could. My heart rate was around 155-160 for the entire ride. I was passed by only 2 or three women, only two in my age group, I thought. They all had tri bikes with aero bars. (I do not.) I did a lot of passing, so that was cool. Saw Brandon and the boys cheering which was awesome. Fun to hear “Go Mommy!” while you’re out there!

Almost crashed with a rider who was passing me on the way into transition (!!!) unstrapped my shoes while still on the bike but left my feet in the shoes (still haven’t practiced getting them out and on top), sailed all the way down my lane to my spot, racked the bike, shoes off, helmet off, sneakers on, grabbed the race belt and sprinted out to the run.

My heart rate felt like it was through the roof. I know I looked down to see what it was but I can’t even remember now. I was heaving I was breathing so hard. I immediately reverted back to my old form, pounding on my heels, which after a few strides I quickly corrected – got up on my forefoot, focused on my upper body position and tried to get my heart rate and breathing under control. I was really wishing for a longer run because it probably took me the first mile to get the kinks out and get some modicum of control. As I made the turn around, I could see all the women racing up behind me. Oooooooo, talk about a different feeling in a race!! No longer was I happily skipping along watching the ducks (I WAS happy mind you, racing is a HUGE happy thrill for me) but this was different: this was PARANOIA. For the first time, I was in the leading group and I could see the pack of hungry wolves bearing down from behind!!! AAACCCKKK!!! I kept my head on. I stayed confident. I kept focused on my form and pushing as hard as I thought I could. Keep going. Keep pushing. Run harder. Go. Go. Go. I made the last turn, and saw the straightaway to the chute before me.

And heard the all-too-familiar pounding of footsteps coming up behind me.

Oh no you don’t. NO. You. are. NOT. going. to. pass ME. [Flashback to 2009 and the spanking I took at the finish of all three races. NOT happening this year ladies. UH-UH.]

I thought my tank was empty leading up to this. But I suddenly refilled it with sheer will and determination. You know what I said to myself at this point? I said “You have to BELIEVE and you have to FIGHT.” Thank you, Lance Armstrong. Gotta love inspirational quotes. They come in handy sometimes. Well I believed and I fought and I picked up that pace like I NEVER have before and I ran faster than I ever thought possible to that chute and the finish line and never looked back.

And thank goodness I did.

Brandon and the boys were there yelling which was awesome. Somehow they made it into the park from the bike route on foot! It was great to see them, we hung out, I changed, got some food and waited for Anne to come in. It was great to see her come down the finishing stretch and give her a high five.

For the next 20 minutes we waited for results to post. I should have left my HRM strap on because I think my heart rate was back up into the 90’s. I didn’t know for sure where I finished!! I THOUGHT I might have placed, but I wasn’t sure AT ALL. FINALLY the results were out and I fought through the crowd to see.

I started from the top. Do, do, doo, doo, do… THERE! 17th place! Finished in 1 hour 16 seconds – that’s almost at my goal of finishing under 1 hour, so that’s GREAT. Okay, but what about my age group??? Let’s see, I have to count down from the top, ages 40-44… 1… 2… 3… then ME. UGH. I just missed placing!! NO! WAIT!! That first one, was she in the top three overall?? Let me back in there!! Let’s see… let’s see… YES!! YES she WAS!! That opens up another spot in my age group and GUESS WHAT! I’m taking it!! THIRD PLACE!!

WAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super excited. But I still had to confirm this. I still wasn’t sure. I asked another athlete. She confirmed it. But until I heard it for sure I didn’t know!! Finally they started awards. The winners were just awesome – finishing UNDER 50 minutes. Incredible. They got to Age Group 40-44. “Finishing in third place… Rosemarie Miller with a time of…” YES! YES! I get to stand on a little podium! I get a bronze medal! How cool is THIS?? I’m getting my picture taken!! OH MY GOSH.

I can’t tell you how happy I was. That was JUST what I wanted: a good day for a race, I felt great about my effort, I was happy to have my friend and my family there, and I finished in the top 20 overall and placed in my age group.

BLISS. Pure bliss.

Makes every workout at 5AM worth it. And super charges me for the workouts to come, which I need because I am just now starting my speed work and increasing my distances. I have a great plan, I’m learning, growing and improving and I can’t ask for anything more.

The stats:
- FIFTH place overall on the swim!! (I need to maintain that on the bike and the run!!)
- Fastest transition times EVER, and one of the fastest T2 splits in the field: THIRTY NINE SECONDS.
- Improved my bike speed by almost 2 mph
- Ran an 8:00 pace on the 2 mile run (That’s definitely an improvement, but I REALLY need to get faster. The top 10 are running 6 and 7 minute miles!!!)

Time: 1:00:16
Overall: 17th /248
Age group: 3rd /52
Swim: ¼ mile, 0:08:06, 5th place
T1 0:01:15
Bike: 10 mile, 0:34:19, 31st place, Pace: 17:50
T2: 0:00:39
Run: 2 mile, 0:15:59, 42nd place, Pace: 0:08:00

I'm feeling really motivated to work even harder and see how much more I can improve!!!
I don't know what else to say to you other than...WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO

And, if no one else reads this, I did and I feel like I am your biggest fan because you write so wonderfully about exactly where you were and when you were.

I AM SO DARN PROUD OF YOU SISTER! ONLINE SISTER AND ALL!

Seriously,

I am so glad you posted this! Go Girl Go!

Hugs,
Laura
Thank you Laura. Your interest and support means a lot to me!!

I hope you are still digging Chalene. Sounds like the wrist gives you a little bit of a challenge? I gave my Chalene cds to a friend who has done P90X in the past and really wanted something new to try. I thought it would be perfect, but the last time I chatted with her it didn't come up so I'm not sure if she's even doing it! I hope she gives it a try, it really is a GREAT program!!! It's the program that got me motivated to do my first 5K run and the rest is history. ;-)

I felt like a pro athlete today. ;-) I had my first ever "Run-Speed" workout on the schedule for today, in addition to my regular Wednesday swim session and a PT session at noon. Crazy! From 5 AM until 1:30 PM all I did was workout, stretch and ice! Boy, if I only had major corporate sponsors, I could do that every day!! I would LOVE it! HA!

The run workout went well - I have been able to build a really good endurance base over the past several months and I'm definitely ready to kick it up a notch. Today I did a 15 minute warm up, followed by some strides work (short sprints focused on form and speed variations), some stretching and then did 4 400 meter sprints (1 lap) with a 400M jog recovery between each one. Ended with a 10 minute cool down. Felt good!! The sprints were incredibly hard, but good hard! I can't even describe what my body feels like when I do the sprints except to say that it's really challenging. I might be better served by doing 200 M sprints for a couple weeks and build up to 400. Eventually, I should be able to do a ladder workout, whereby I'd do 400M, 800M 1200M, 800M, 400M sprints with recovery laps in between each. I'll get there!!

Not sure what's on tap for tomorrow - I am hoping for something light. Gotta go and check my plans.

And then it's time to get some WORK done!! Sheesh!

Have a GREAT day - give it all ya got!!!

~Rosemarie
Rosemarie I feel like I should have my HRM on just reading your post. Of course I had to re-read it again today and was thrilled to see what a fabulous Run Speed you had this morning.

I bet you wouldn't have one ounce of problem with Turbo Fire. I watch this and I want to ask her..."does your Mom do this and survive?" Chalene herself labels these workouts "Advanced" compared to Turbo Jam and Turbo Kick (the gym version) which really is Intermediate if you have ever had the fun time to take a class.

Yes, I am still doing ChaLEAN and yes, the bicep curls are what challenge me the most because of my right wrist being out by 1 mm, which is enough to change the muscles I am using trying to do a curl. I am okay with the Hammer Curls, but the actual bicep curls change because of not being able to turn my wrist completely over and have my palm facing completely up. I can get it there about 3/4 of the way and that is it. So, I adapt.

I am really happy with being able to use 18#s on my lower body work. Considering I couldn't even hold a knife or fork in my right hand 7 months ago, this is huge for me.

It has been pouring rain with torrential downpours all day so I used the day to take care of things inside since the weather is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The last thing I want to do is be inside doing household chores when the weather outside is calling my name.

I was outside all day yesterday except for my workout and answering personal email. I definitely got my workout in cleaning up the bazillion keys that fell from the Maple Trees this year and hand tilling the garden I made last year as well as planting an Autumn Blush Coreopsis I bought at a new Nursery my husband and I went to see further north of us on Sunday. The Nursery isn't new, but it is for us to see and they had really nice different things. I actually ordered a couple of Blue Ivory Hostas because they were sold out with their 20% off discount, so hopefully I will get them this year. If not, there is always a treat for next year.

Rosemarie, please keep us updated on how your training is going. Your fabulous way with words and your determination is what helped me get out of my slump and motivated me to push harder with my own workouts. I need your motivation. With the BB boards withering to a trickle of attendance, I feel like I really am on my own doing this on my own. Thanks for inspiring me. You are a great BTBS winner in my books!

Suzy,
Did you get to do Turbo Fire at the BB Summit this year? If so, what are your unbiased opinions on it?

Hugs,
Laura

Hi ladies! Great day- beautiful blue skies here on the East Coast.

Had a swim speed workout this am - not my idea of the 'easy' workout I was hoping for, but if there's a 'better' sport to be sprinting in, for me at least, it's swimming! Had a lot of fun. I don't think I was pushing it as hard as I could. This is where it's really helpful to have another swimmer, preferable faster, to do these workouts with. It pushes you more. Where is that swimmer!?!? If you are out there, meet me at the Y next week for a wrkout. ;-)

Was happy to have a girlfiend joining me on the last two morning workout sessions - she's been getting up at 5 and coming along, which is terrific! Nice to have company!!

Working like a dog lately - lots of stuff going on with my research business and with BTBS - all good stuff. Staying focused and making sure I get my workouts in early. Although after the last two days' sessions, I think I could really use a nap this afternoon.... ;-)

Rosemarie

Good for you and lucky you to have a friend join you. I know I really loved it when my BFF was joining me 2xs a week when I was doing the training for the 5K. Now I am on my own with my iPod, which is not a bad thing either because I have managed to download some great tunes to warm up and basically do a HIIT training walk with and a nice long 1 mile cool down.

In honour of Monday being the first day of summer I will be up when you are and heading over to the Park to be alone with Ma Nature and all her beauty. I am hoping it is going to be a beautiful summer day. If not, then there is always another day, but for now June 21st is my day to start doing my early morning workouts and then coming home to take care of things that need to be taken care of.

Keep up the great work and HIGH FIVES for your Swim this morning. Today I did a Cardio Pilates workout with Kathy Smith that I haven't done for a while and it felt great to work the abs, stretch and get that heart rate up. I laughed when I wrote down my stats and thought about yours. My AHR was 124 and my MHR was 151.

Hi to any of the lurkers. Do chime in eh?

"The Good, the Bad and the REALLY REALLY FANTASTIC!!!!"

Hi girls!!!! What's UP out there??

Laura! How're the morning workouts? Whatcha doin'? Is it ridiculously HOT there? IS here!! Whew! What are you planting in your garden this year? We still haven't done a think. I was thinking of starting with some azaleas. Something in red. I'm such a greenhorn gardener I am paralyzed with fear.

Suz - just sent you a rodiculously large amount of documents. Have fun reading all THAT. HAHA ;-)

Alright, here you go, here's an update:

The GOOD: I was able to get in almost ALL my workouts the past two weeks, which was a big goal of mine because it was a real uptick in intensity and duration (in terms of # workouts - went from 5 to 8 per week.) I kept it easy on the easy days (when there WERE any... !!!) and really pulled it out on the high intensity days. I am feeling WAY strong and fit and still having a LOT of fun.

The BAD: Alright. SO! Well, there's no way to ease into this: I have the *possibility* of the *beginning* of a stress fracture in my left leg. After Tuesday's track workout (OOOOOOooooooo, I HAVE to tell you about THAT too!!! That fits into the "Really really fantastic" category!!!) I noticed that my left leg was a little swollen towards the bottom, above my ankle. Weird. Didn't really hurt, but swelling can't be good. Mentioned it at Wednesday's PT appointment and Josh the trainer dude had a COW - got right on the phone with my Orthopaedic doc and got me an appointment the next day! Who knew? I'm grateful I have these amazing people watching out for me!! He did some poking around and mentioned the UGLY "S. F." word. Appointment with the Doc the next day confirmed the UGLY word as a possibility, but as being very, very minor. At this point. Getting MRI on Tuesday but in the meatime, we are being RIDICULOUSLY AGGRESIVE in treating it - no running and I am using crutches to get around. The more aggressive I can be, the quicker it will heal and the faster I'll get back to my plan. I don't care how ridiculous it looks, I'll sit in a wheelchair for a week if I have to. I've been subsituting bikes, swims and extra core work in place of the past two running workouts to try and keep the ol' machine running. SO! Hopefully I will be back to normal by the end of the week and able to do my race on July 3rd - a beach sprint tri in Avalon NJ. At the very least, I will do the swim and the bike and then just drop out if I can't run.

Okay, so where does that leave us?? Let's see, OH! The "REALLY REALLY FANTASTIC!" OH. MY. GOSH! There are three items in this category!!!!!

First: I was invited to attend an open water swim clinic last Sunday at a local lake by a guy who owns a chain of local bike shops and runs a team of local elite and All-American athletes. WOW!!! I had written a letter to the brand manager at Kestrel (a bike manufacturer) at his suggestion a few weeks prior, poking around for any resources (read: TRI bike!) or help and connections they could offer. He contacted the regional Kestrel guy who put me in touch with the local shop. AMAZING!! So I have this AMAZING day, working out with literally(!) Team USA triathletes, KONA Ironman triathletes (!!!!!!) and it was like hanging out with a bunch of old friends. I was SO nervous, but introductions were casual and easy and everyone was so encouraging and helpful and enthusiastic and so willing to share. I LOVE THIS SPORT!!! I got a call from the bike shop guy a couple days later encouraging me to come and meet with their fit guy so we could get started on testing out a few bikes!!! Then he called me a few days later to make sure I made an effort to come to one of their Wednesday night rides, where I can get practically one-on-one help/coaching from the guy who leads the rides!!! Of course, I do understand that the guy has the ultimate responsibilty of selling bikes and the more he butters people up the more they buy bikes, but it's still really neat. I'm happy to make any connection I can to learn more and grow and meet more people as enthusiastic as I am about the sport.

SO! SECOND: Tuesday's 5:30 AM Track workout RETURNS to the schedule with a BANG! I am sure I don't need to remind anyone of my whining and complaining before, during and after every track workout last summer... (sorry about all that, by the way.) WELL! After working the past few months on building a good endurance base, correcting my form, working on strength with hill workouts and doing threshold runs, I was ready for speed work. I could have done my own workout, but I really wanted to return to the Tuesday group. OKAY, so I KNOW it doesn't matter how I do compared to anyone else but myself, but I WASN'T LAST!! I WASN'T LAST!! I actually ran WELL!! It was sooooooo fabulous. :-) And then my leg swelled. :-( But we don't need to go back to that. So when I am well, I am looking forward to returning to a Tuesday workout and continuing to learn and improve.

Alright. SO, are you ready for the THIRD "REALLY REALLY FANTASTIC THING?!?!"

Really?

Well, maybe we should wait until next week.

NO? NOW?

Oh, alright...

I QUALIFIED FOR USAT AGE GROUP NATIONAL COMPETITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I QUALIFIED FOR USAT AGE GROUP NATIONAL COMPETITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I QUALIFIED FOR USAT AGE GROUP NATIONAL COMPETITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We think. We're pretty darn sure! My coach is confirming with USA Triathlon. He's 99.9% sure. I need a top 10% finish in my age group in a sprint or olympic distance race in order to qualify, which in my past race would have been anywhere in the top 5 in my group of 52 women. And I was third.

Can you BELIEVE it?!?!?!?! Here's the kicker: I can't go. It's the same weekend as the LiveStrong event in Philly that I am participating in. Honestly, though, it's okay. I'm not even sure I would go anyway because it's in ALABAMA and for someone who has a really, really hard time with heat and humidity, it's not the ideal locale. NExt year, in 2011, it will be in Burlington VT and I am SO totally THERE!! If I can qualify again, of course. !!!!

So, I'm SUPER excited with the way things are going. Happy to have caught this little leg issue early on and looking forward to healing and progressing the rest of the summer!!!!

WAAAAHOOOOO!!!!!!
Rosemarie

GET OFF THAT BIKE! I actually know two people who developed stress fractures from riding, so you aren't doing your leg any good. I know with all that is going on and your tremendous amount of awesome enthusiastic goings on with the Triathalon groups you think you are doing yourself a favour with your leg, but I promise you that swimming right now is what you should only be doing if you are truly going to be proactive about this stress fracture this week. I know you will find out more tomorrow with the MRI, but please, don't put anymore stress on that leg and biking does.

Second, I don't know if you take Vitamin D or not but when I had the displaced fracture of my wrist the Specialist immediately put me up to 5,000 IU of Vitamin D a day to help build up the bone marrow to prevent myself from having a stress fracture after all was said and done with the healing just from doing everyday using it. I was already taking 1,000 IU a day because of my back and pre-osteoporsis. When I went for my bone density this year in April there was no sign of the pre-osteoporsis any more because it works that well so get out there and pick yourself up a Bottle of Vitamin D. As North Amercians we are usually deficient in Vitamin D anyways because of where we are living, too much sunblock, etc. Plus it is dirt cheap and it makes for strong hair and nails as an added bonus. It will not only help you with your healing, it will help prevent you from doing this again. VITAMIN D-1,000 IU x 5.

Okay, I am off my soapbox now because I don't want to see you do more damage when all the stars are lining up for you perfectly. Isn't it amazing how Like attracks Like. When you surround yourself with people who love the same things you do, it just keeps on coming. Enjoy the fun with the bike people, but just give your bone a chance to reknit. You will build back up very quickly because of the shape you are already in.

Today is my last workout for Push. Wednesday I start the Lean Phase of ChaLEAN Extreme. I am on my way to do it as soon as my hubby calls. Yes, we have the humidity like crazy, but I also know from one of my best friends who lives in Philly that you guys seem to get the humidity worse then we do. I think we are tied. We have had 6" of rain since early Friday morning. It just hasn't stopped. The animals are back digging up my daylilies and cosmos looking for grubs and snails to eat because their own food has been destroyed with rain.

To anyone who saw the B.S. on TV about the peaceful protesters and then the rioters/criminals that came from Detroit, soley to cause havoc on the G20 Summit, as a Canadian, I am so embarrassed that a bunch of bad, unforgiveable people were able to come in and reak havoc on the peaceful demonstrators and harm people's businesses just because they had nothing better to do with life then cause harm. This is NOT us as Canadians at any time. You saw the Olympics. Please don't let a hundred or so bad dudes/dudettes ruin what you think of the very multicultrual Toronto that is visitor friendly and accomodating.

Off to get my DVD put in and weights ready. Have a great day. Smile. It feels good.
